Raleigh Raptors – Post Fledging

It’s hard to imagine that only last week, there was so much activity in the nest, with Wynk spending 5 days and 4 nights on a whirlwind tour of the Capitol, now the nest is quiet; empty. 😦

It hasn’t been easy spotting the newly fledged RTH’s.  Most of the times, I rely on either them crying for food but for the last 2 days, my friends were the Blue jays.   I’ve seen only 1 fledgling in the Capitol area in the past 2 days, however, this is not to say that the other 2 aren’t around.  They could be, but as you can see in these pictures, it’s not easy to spot them among all the foliage.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have wings to get from place to place?  Then we wouldn’t care about gas prices! 🙂

Hanging out with dad at the Cross on the First Baptist Church (across from the Highway Bldg).

Ahh, yes.  Today’s rainfall really made a mess out of those feathers.

Well-hidden within the leaves makes them very hard to locate, but let the Blue jays sound the alarm.

For the next week or so, these birds will be very helpful in pin-pointing the RTH’s location.

After next week, they’ll probably leave the Capitol and move further south.  We’ll see.

Till then. enjoy!
