Raleigh Raptors – Live Long and Prosper

In the words of Mr. Spock, I bid Wynken and Nod

Live Long and Prosper!

Together with some students attending a Raptor Rehab class from Wake Tech,  I witnessed Wynk and Nod returning back to Mother Nature after being successfully rehabilitated by Steve Stone of the American Wildlife Refuge.  http://www.raleighraptorrefuge.org http://www.awrefuge.org

First it was Wynk.

Then it was Nod’s turn.

I had the honor 🙂

C’ya, Nod!

Thank you Steve for rehabbing these 2 Red-tails!  BTW, Nod is a “she” and Wynk is  “he”.  I guess our guess was right!

After the release, Steve continued on with the class and showed some of the other Raptors in his care.  All these other raptors have been injured and are incapable of surviving in the wild.

Hiss – the Great Horned Owl

Barred Owl

Adonis, the Barn Owl

Eastern Screech Owl. (yes, that is a cataract in one of the eyes)

Snoopy, the Black Vulture

Freya, The Red-tailed Hawk

Red-shouldered Hawk

Expenses incurred for Steve’s work relies largely on donations.
