Flying Solo

July 19

It’s getting much more difficult to spot our Red-tailed friends.  Today, i saw, actually, heard one wailing overhead and did manage a few shots.  TBH, I don’t know if this is Sally or Eden, but it’s one of the two.

No sign of Mama or Papa. I guess the kids have left home and are now on their own.  This is certainly much earlier than the brood from last year or from 2011.  But who knows?  Will one will stick around for the rest of the year until breeding season begins again next year?

We’ll see…

No more hanging out around the Hotel Capitol, but instead flying out much further…

  1. I believe one has made a new nest near The News and Observer. I can hear a hawk when I am on the grounds near the alley of two buildings on the site. The hawk is either nesting across the street in Nash Square or on top of one of the N and O buildings. I just heard him today.
