Home Delivery

April 16

After a full day of rain yesterday, mother nature endowed us with winter-like weather once again.  It was brrrr  cold… but our RT friends stayed the course. Mama was in the nest and had her head a little higher up than usual.  A few minutes later, Papa came flying in…

with home delivery!  It wasn’t a big catch, but it was food, nonetheless.

Papa took off after making the food drop.  Who was that for?  It could have been for Mama, but chances are, there are now little ones in the nest!

At noon, Mama was in the nest and Papa was flying high above the Capitol.

Something caught his eye and he switched to the “S”uperman position and dove in….

He broke his steep dive and let out a loud hawk screech. Papa circled then flew south.  Apparently, he had nothing to deliver.  Time to go hunt.

After waiting for sometime for Papa to come back, well, he didn’t but there was movement in the nest.  Mama took off…

apparently just for a stretch and came back a minute later.

Have their eggs hatched?  Most likely.  There should be more and more food deliveries in the coming days and for the next 6-7 weeks.

Stay tuned.

Ciao!

  1. Way cool! Be great if we could get a live cam on the nest! Is there a straight line of sight from somewhere on Union Square to the nest???

    • the only line-of-sight is from the agriculture bldg near the museum or the revenue building.
either way, can’t look down into the nest as the nest is about 2 feet deep.
