The Little One(s)

Apr 29

It was a cool and foggy morning.  Mama was on nest duty and I was able to get a few shots in the dreary fog.

By lunch time, the fog had lifted, but the weather remained overcast.  More rough weather is in the forecast!

Mama was in the nest and I noticed a small white head pop out of the nest.  Could it be? Yes!  This is my first sighting of this years eyas(ses).  I’m not sure how many, but it looks like 2 so far.

They’re big enough now to walk around the nest and soon they’ll be peeking out to the world beyond.

In the distance, several Blue jays started a racket and that could only mean one thing. Another hawk was nearby.  Sure enough, lunch is delivered.

Papa took off but Mama did not start feeding.  Instead she took off and returned back but not in the nest.  She did some preening on the dormer above.

From past experience, when they start staying on the dormers, the little ones are now big and mobile enough to rove around the nest.  Time to give em some space 🙂

Should be an exciting weeks to come to watch the eyasses grow and grow quickly they will.
