The Red-tails seem to be making more regular appearances in downtown Raleigh at places once forbidden by the Kestrels.
Could it be because the Kestrels are no longer in town? Tha’s my theory, but I saw a Kestrel the other day but it didn’t chase the Red-tails.
up close – yep. it’s a Kestrel but maybe it’s one of the kids who probably has no idea who that raptor cousin of his is 🙂
Mama lands at the PNC
Mama stands on a ledge on the side of the BB&T
Wow. That is a tiny, tiny ledge.
Mama takes a power nap, in the shade of the BB&T.
Mama preens at the antenna tower, once a no-land zone when the adult Kestrels were here a few weeks back.
Of course, the Mockingbirds are always on alert.
Mama again at the antenna
As Papa zooms in from the North and lands on the other side of the BB&T
With preening complete, Mama takes to the skies
Takes a few spins around the PNC building…
and lands on the Red Hat building and has the pigeons all confused on what to do.
Well, the pigeons flew away but came right back.
